Final Blog Assignment Reflection

This class has been the hardest writing class I have taken in my life. Once I graduated from Community College I thought I was never going to have to take another writing class in my life. But, then I came here and found out i have to take two intensive writing classes. I was totally bummed about this. I don't like to write anything. I feel like most english/writing teachers expect that every student knows how to write. I also feel that each teacher has their own way to write. Once you think you know how to write another teacher comes along and tells you that everything you wrote is all wrong.
At the beginning of this class I had many things to work on. Once I got my first paper back I knew this class was going to be hard and take a lot of time. My first paper showed me that I need to work on my sentence structure, my paragraphs were weak and research was as strong as it should have been.
This class at first was so hard and pointless. I thought all the work we did was very time consuming. Reading the writing book was so boring. Even some of the stories we read weren't to exciting.
But as the semester went on it started to get better. I was finally understanding how to write and expand my thoughts. I never thought I was going to be able to write a page that was 7 page or even a 15 page paper.
I learned a great amount from this class that I never thought I was going to learn. I just wanted to thanks you and wish you a Happy Holiday!

Winter Break

I can not wait to go home for winter break! I miss my home friends soo much. I miss my family even more! I can't wait to go home and decorate for christmas. I love going out with my family to pick out a christmas tree. Its always a project getting it into the house. Some how we alway get a tree to tall for the house and my dad throws a hissy fit. Then he has to cut it to make it shorter. Its diffinitely an adventure in the Torre hold that night. Then we usually wait two days after we get it to decorate it. We do is as a whole family which makes it fun. This year is going to be interesting because now both of my sisters are engaged and we have their two fiances coming over to help. Its like having two older brothers that I never had. The best part about decorating is blasting the Christmas Music! My dad can't take Christmas Music. He is soo miserable around this time of year because of all the money him and my mom have to spend. He is just really cheap with his money. He refuses to help us hang lights outside of the house. So my mom and sister climb the ladder to to put the lights up. Every year we put lights up, there is alway a strand of lights that works when they are on the ground. Then when we put them up they never work. Its always an adventure for my family during Christmas time. I am so looking forward to going home for a month and a half! How do you feel about Christmas Break?

FACEBOOK!

OMG! My roommate and I are addicted to facebook. Every second I look over at her computer she on facebook. And every second she looks at my computer I am sitting on facebook sending her bumperstickers! As I am trying to write this blog, I am actually sitting on facebook at the same time sending her a bumpersticker back. This online program is the dumbest thing ever. But everyone in college is so addicted to it. Its great to keep intouch with people you graduated with. But all the extra stuff like bumperstickers, Buying happy hour drinks that they really don't drink, sending gifts that you really have to pay for that you use your credit card for. Also the news feed is an easy way to stalk people. Facebook turned into a stalkers program. Many people just go on facebook to look at other people's drunk pictures and to see who is leaving them comments and other comments that are left on other peoples walls. A lot of people just go on to look up who is hot and who is not hot from their school. Many people have been raped or assaulted because of facebook. This is supposed to be a program for students keep intouch with people from their childhood. But it turned out into a dangerous program that people us to stalk other people. I am addicted to it but i don't use it to stalk people's life. I am one of the few that use if for what its supposed to be used for. I am just addicted to it because I love seeing what people write on my wall! Who else is addicted to facebook?

Rap vs Country

The other day on the way home from the mall my friends and I were talking about the the difference between rap and country. We come to the conclusion that most rap songs don't really have a story behind it. They mostly talk about sex, drug, getting shot, thug life, learning a new dances, curses, bitches and hoes and money. There videos show their expensive cars, money flying all over the place, half naked women, guns, and drugs. I am not discriminating against rappers. I mean I listen to rap music. I just never realized how pointless their songs were.
Once I started listening to country I realized that they alway had a story behind it. Either if it was a love story, family, growing up on the farm, breaks up, people dying, and growing old. The way they write their songs is just amazing. The storys behind there songs are so true. Some of them are so sad that I almost cry! I feel like they just have a better affect on people. It like stories that everyone deals with in everyday life. I feel like most people can relate to what country singer sing about. What do you like better rap or country?

women's lacrosse vs men's lacrosse

Did anyone ever see a men's and women's lacrosse game? It is a totally different sport. Men's lacrosse they have pocket in their stick to catch the ball. That only have 10 people on the lacrosse field. They have three defense of player. They get to play with long pole stick which a about the same hit as them. That is used to make it easier for them to defense the attack player. It is hard for the attack player to try and score. The have three midfielder. One is someone that takes the faceoffs. There faceoffs start on the ground. They put the ball between the two sticks of the faceoff guys. Then the ref blows the whistle they try to put there sticks over the ball and scoop it out to there own team. They also have three attack. They try to score all the goals. The men's field is small then the women's field. They have their goal on each 10 yard line of a football field. The womens goals are on the goalline on the touchdown. They guys get to beat the crap out of eachother.
The womens game is totally different. We play with 11 on the field. Our field is a whole football field long. Our field is wider then a men's field. We have 3 low defense of player. Then we have five in the mid-field. The center take the faceoffs. But in women's lacrosse they are called a draw. The two centers stand up and the ball is placed between the back part of the sticks head. Then the whistle is blown. Both girls make their sticks go in the air and ball goes up in the air and they fight over it. But I feel like women's lacrosse you need to have more talent for. They aren't allowed to have a pocket in the sticks like the boys are. There is much more rules in women's lacrosse. which makes it boring to watch. But it soo much better to play then to watch. What do you think?

Mall and Bar

On saturday a bunch of my friends that are on my lacrosse team decided to go to the mall. We need to go shopping for our Lacrosse Formal. It was at the new bar the Stone Lounge. We had to wear dresses for this formal. So we went to the mall to find dresses. I already had a dress from home that I wore. It was black and has like ruffles at the bottom of the dress. I was so not me. But I liked it and everyone else seemed to like it too! I went to the mall to look for jewlery. I found a necklece that went perfect with the dress. I was long that went perfect because my dress was a halter top. we shopped at the mall for like four hours because one of my friends couldn't find a dress. We finally found her one. By the time we got back to our room it was time to take a shower and get ready to party. The party was obviously 21 to drink and 18 to get in. But lucky I am 21 so I did not care.
When we got the stone lounge I walked in and my mouth dropped down to the ground. It was like walking into a bar in New York City. I didn't expect something like that in Cortland, NY. haha. Inside the bar they had places to lounge. They had fireplace inside the bar which was perfect because it was snowing out! I just couldn't believe what this bar looked like inside. The good part is that the part isn't finished yet so its going to be so much nicer.

DIRTY!!!

The one thing I hate about living in the dorm are the bathrooms. The girls on my floor are disguising! They leave their crap everywhere. The sinks are loaded with hair, spit anything you name it is in our sinks! One day someone dumped water from old flowers in the sink and there was petals in every sink! Like what the hell goes through these peoples heads. The showers are even worse! There is like piles of hair left in drains! Its so gross. I know this sounds so stupid but I wish our cleaning ladies weren't so nice! They clean up everything for us. Our RA told us in the beginnig of the semester, if we were dirty we would get woking up at 6:00am by her and the cleaning ladies to clean up after ourselves. So I thought we would be clean but I guess not!
People use the sinks to dump out there oatmeal and soups. Then the left over is left in the sink. That could clog the drains! People would go to the bathroom and leave pee on the seats! Or forget to flush the bowl its gross! When people rip off a piece of toilet paper they leave half of it on the floor. Someone on our floor even left an anoymous letter on the bathroom floor bashing all the people on our floor to keep the bathroom clean because other people have to use it. I totally agree with her. I don't unstand how people could live like this!!
