I never knew this class could be so much fun. Since school is pretty much over I figured I can finally write a blog on everything we learned about in this PED activity class. The most inportant part of this class is know that it is a self defense class. It to learn how to defense yourself when you are getting attacked. Its not a class where they show you how to hurt an attacker. We learned all different terminalogy that is hard to remember because it is not in english. We learned many different Kata's. Kata means a system of basic body positions and movement exercises. We learn a basic Kata called Kihon Kata Shodan. Its a basic punch and block kata. Then we learned a kata called Kihon Kata Nidan. It's pretty much the same thing but before every punch there is a thrust kick added. There is one last kata that we learned that has to do with looking over your shoulder. This kata is if your getting attack by many different people. This kata is call Kihon Kata Sandan. Last kata that we learn is a kata that we use to cool us down after a hard class. It is called Ju Fu Kata. It is used by many culture to try and calm you down. Its kind of like a meditation. It is a breathing kata that calms the nerves. This comes from yoga.
We also learned all different technique on how we get out of different grabs, chokes an how to sweep our attacker. Technique number one (a) is a Single Hand Grab across the body. Technique number one (b) is a single hand grab(straight across) Technique number 2 is a double handed grab low. Technique number three is a double handed grab (upper) Technique number four is a double handed grab to one arm. The next two techniques have to do with choking. Technique number five you is a choke from the front with two hands. Technique number six has to do with a two handed choke from the rear. Technique number seven is you combine technique four, five and six all together. Technique number eight is called upper block into an outer major sweep. This is the coolest one I learned. You block their punch and you pull it to your hip to cause them to be unbalance and you take a step to sweep the attack right onto their back. Technique number nine is the upper block to forearm take down into a ground submission. This one is the hardest to do .We also learned how to get out of a bear hug and a one arm choke from behind. I feel like those were the most helpful ones. This class has to be one of my favorite classes.
